FORADVISE launches Work Package 5 to accelerate knowledge sharing across Europe’s forest advisory community

Following the successful completion of the project’s initial networking and scoping activities, FORADVISE has officially launched Work Package 5 (WP5): “Speed up knowledge sharing in themes and methods”, marking the beginning of a new phase focused on turning collaboration into practical action. Led by the Swedish Forest Agency (SFA), Work Package 5 runs from June 2026 until December 2028, building on the foundations established through the Thematic Working Groups (TWGs), National Contact Points (FNCPs) and Communities of Practice created during the first18 months of the project.

From identifying challenges to sharing solutions

While the first phase of FORADVISE focused on identifying the main needs and priorities of forest advisory services across Europe, WP5 shifts the emphasis towards knowledge exchange, co-creation and the practical transfer of successful advisory approaches.
Its objective is to accelerate the flow of knowledge between countries, organisations and advisors by creating opportunities for peer learning,  and adapting proven practices to different regional contexts. Through this collaborative approach, forest advisors will be better equipped to address today’s ecological, economic and social challenges. Over the next years, WP5 will bring together advisory organisations, researchers and forestry professionals through a series of collaborative activities, including:

  • International Advisory Workshops
  • National Workshops organised by the NCPs
  • Regular CoP meetings
  • Knowledge Transfer Pilots (KTPs)
  • Continuous exchange within the TWGs

These activities are designed not only to share existing knowledge but also to encourage participants to discuss, refine and adapt advisory practices that can be successfully transferred across different forestry systems in Europe.

Turning knowledge into practical resources

One of the key ambitions of WP5 is to transform valuable experiences into practical resources that can benefit advisors well beyond the project consortium. Throughout the work package, participants will collectively identify and evaluate successful advisory practices, document lessons learned and contribute to the development of project outputs.

Knowledge Transfer Pilots: learning by doing

A central component of WP5 is the implementation of five Knowledge Transfer Pilots (KTPs). These pilots will connect organisations with proven experience in innovative advisory methods with organisations looking to strengthen their capacities. The objective is not only to transfer knowledge but also to understand how successful advisory practices can be adapted to different local contexts, ensuring that innovation becomes applicable across Europe’s diverse forestry systems.

With knowledge sharing at its core, Work Package 5 represents an important step towards building a stronger, more connected and more resilient European forest advisory community.
