Building Europe’s Forest Advisory and Extension Network

FORADVISE establishes a structured European Network designed to strengthen, connect and modernise forest advisory services across Europe.

The Network is Structured Around Two Interconnected Pillars

The Network links national forestry realities with EU-level dialogue, strengthens Forest Knowledge and Innovation Systems (FOKIS), and enables structured exchange between advisors, forest owners and policymakers.

Why This Matters

Forestry advisory systems vary significantly across Europe. This diversity requires coordinated action at both national and European level.

  • Structured coordination across diverse national systems
  • Cross-border knowledge exchange between countries
  • Evidence-based policy input at EU level
  • Mechanisms that reflect real operational challenges

“The FORADVISE Network ensures that innovation and advisory improvements are not developed in isolation but grounded in real national contexts.”

How the structure Works

This model ensures that the Network operates both bottom-up and transnationally.
01

National Networks
Identify Needs

Country-specific advisory needs, gaps and structural challenges are mapped at national level.

02

Needs Feed into TWGs

National insights are channelled into Thematic Working Groups for cross- country analysis.

03

TWGs Develop a Roadmap of Activities

Working groups analyse experiences and produce evidence-based recommendations.

04

Outputs Return to National Level

Results are validated nationally and contribute to EU-level advisory modernisation.
