The Payment for Ecosystem Services Thematic Working Group (TWG) strengthens advisory capacities around emerging ecosystem-service markets by sharing knowledge, tools, practical examples, and policy developments related to carbon, biodiversity, water, and other nature-based value streams.

About

The Payment for Ecosystem Services TWG brings together forest advisors, experts, practitioners, and organisations interested in the valuation and monetisation of forest ecosystem services. The group aims to clarify the concept of PES, identify key needs and challenges, map relevant platforms, tools, networks, and expertise, and provide practical guidance to forest advisors and other stakeholders. Particular attention is given to carbon and nature credits, monitoring and verification approaches, public and private funding mechanisms, innovative market-based incentives, EU policy developments, and successful examples of ecosystem-service valuation across Europe.
