FORADVISE Scoping Seminar: Shaping the Future of Forest Advisory in Europe

On 21–23 April 2026, the FORADVISE project will host its Scoping Seminar in Montpellier, France, bringing together partners, experts, and contributors from across Europe.

This three-day event marks an important step in building a stronger, more connected forest advisory community at European level.

The seminar is designed as a collaborative space where six Thematic Working Groups will work together on key topics shaping the future of forestry. In addition, a dedicated session will address cross-cutting and common challenges across all themes:

  • Climate Change and Forest Management Adaptation
  •  Agroforestry
  • Wood Mobilisation
  • Non-Wood Forest Products
  • Sustainable Forest Management and Closer-to-Nature Forestry
  • Payment for Ecosystem Services

The main focus of the seminar is to explore the current landscape of forest advisory services and identify the most pressing challenges faced by advisors across Europe. Participants will exchange knowledge, review existing tools and platforms, and highlight practical solutions already applied in different countries.

Throughout the sessions, the seminar will:

  • Map current needs and challenges
  • Identify available knowledge and ready-to-use resources
  • Showcase successful practices and tools
  • Define a roadmap for future actions and knowledge transfer

The agenda includes thematic discussions, interactive workshops, and collaborative activities such as role-play sessions and idea exchanges, allowing participants to actively contribute and co-create solutions.

By the end of the seminar, participants will have contributed to shaping concrete next steps and strengthening the FORADVISE network as a “network of networks” supporting forest advisors across Europe.

The event is hosted by the Centre National de la Propriété Forestière (CNPF) and co-organised within the framework of the FORADVISE project.
